Training: Ritual postures and ecstatic trance®

Training “Ritual postures and ecstatic trance”® after Felicitas Goodman

Next start: Sat., 13.03.2021
Location: Hainfeld an der Weinstraße
Seminar Coach: Sabine Rittner

Training group for future certified seminar leaders who work with “ritual postures” in public or would like to integrate them into their profession and everyday life.

With this new training offer I would like to appeal to people,

– who want to bring something healing and reconnecting into the world with the ritual postures,
– who feel the desire to accompany other people on this ancient yet contemporary spiritual, deep ecological journey of experience,
– who know that they want to get deeply involved in this archaic way of trance embedded in the shamanic world view,
– who are willing to take responsibility for accompanying people in altered states of consciousness,
– who are curious, can marvel and belong together for experience and understanding, practice and theory, body and head.

The training consists of a combination of
– intensive self-awareness in the context of a closed annual group for advanced learners, and
– individual training days, on which methodical, technical and content-related deepening takes place. Here you practice, ask questions, reflect critically, laugh, discuss, do research, reflect, exchange, encourage, taste, sympathize, support… On the training days you also supervise the work you have to do yourself with a self-directed local practice group, which is an additional important part of the training.

Since not everything can be taught exclusively on the training days, I expect from the participants a high willingness to open up and communicate, for active cooperation, self-study and research, as well as responsible commitment for their own local practice group. Last but not least, the ritual postures are a spiritual path of experience and growth with shamanic roots, on which each individual is accompanied as an important part of the community.

The training takes place on the basis of the “Training Guidelines of the Felicitas Goodman Institute Germany”. It will be supplemented by many elements from my wealth of experience on the subject of trance and altered states of consciousness. The training guidelines can be inquired with me, I send them gladly to: SabineRittner@gmx.de

My personal path with Felicitas Goodman and the rituals
Postures

Since I met the anthropologist and consciousness researcher Prof. Felicitas Goodman in 1993, this extraordinary and ancient path of ecstatic trance has never let go of me. I am deeply grateful that I was able to experience Felicitas Goodman for many years as a teacher, friend and colleague and spend a lot of time with her.

I had the opportunity to explore the effects of ritual postures with different approaches. I have used them in medicine and psychotherapy as well as in intensive wilderness retreats in direct contact with nature. Here the shamanic roots of the ritual postures can be best experienced.

In the meantime I have been able to bring this precious work in lectures and seminars to other European countries, to the USA, to Japan and currently to Australia. In my wildest dreams, when I met Felicitas and turned into a flying tiger flying over the Himalayas in one of the first rituals, I could not have imagined how important this access to ecstatic trance would become for me. And certainly not that he would accompany me into old age. It is of great concern to me to pass on the experiences I was allowed to gain and the knowledge I have acquired into attentive and responsible hands. It is very important for me to teach good methods for the security in the accompaniment of people in changed processes of perception.

Research Project “Music Therapy for Depression”

Research project “Music Therapy for Depression” with Sabine Rittner, Christine Gäbel and others at the Institute for Medical Psychology at the University Hospital Heidelberg

Sabine Rittner is currently therapeutic director of the study “Music Therapy for Depression” (MUSED). It is a randomized controlled study to evaluate psychobiological effects of music therapy on depression in adult women. People with depression have a disturbed regulation of emotions and associated deficits in the regulation of psychobiological stress systems. Music therapy is a complementary therapeutic approach that contributes to the effective treatment of depression. Initial studies show that music therapy can positively influence depressive symptoms and their psychobiological mechanisms. A total of 66 adult women between the ages of 18 and 65 with mild, moderate to severe depression are included in the study. They receive a 10-week music therapy group treatment, which can be completed in addition to an existing standard therapy (outpatient psychotherapy and/or medication). You can find more information on the study, which is currently in the implementation phase, here.

Further information on the study can be found on the research platform: “researchgate

Trance als Quelle der Kraft und Inspiration / 01.10 – 04.10.2020

    DO, 01.10.2020 – SO, 04.10.2020

Ein Methodenseminar zum Kennenlernen, Verstehen und Anwenden verschiedener Trancetechniken für Selbstmanagement, Alltag und Beruf
    Seminarleitung: Sabine Rittner
    Assistenz: Julia Jung
    Ort: Odenwald-Institut

    • Selbsthypnose, Entspannungsmethoden, Meditation, Aktives Visualisieren
    • Klang und Trance, Rhythmus und Trance, Singen und Trance
    • verschiedene Atemtechniken
    • Körper-, Bewegungstechniken, Energieübungen, Trancetanz
    • Rituale mit Techniken aus dem Schamanismus
    • Rituelle Körperhaltungen und ekstatischeTrance (nach Felicitas Goodman)
      Goodman

Journey into an Alternate Reality – Year-long Group

    Rahmentrommel

A self-experience year-long group: Journey into an Alternate Reality
Next Start, Saturday February 22th, 2020
    Saturdays, 8 dates always from 11 – 6pm (incl. dinner 7pm)

Trance rituals as a way of coping with everyday life
    Seminar Coach: Sabine Rittner
    Assistance: Kathrin Stranghoener
Location: Burghof Stauf bei Eisenberg in der Pfalz

This annual group offers participants the opportunity to get to know the salutary mind-opening potential of trance states, to explore them in depth and learn how to use them in everyday life, exploring both the path of tranquillity and of excitement (ecstasy).

    Contents
The trance technique, re-discovered by anthropologist Felicitas Goodman, called “Ritual Body Postures”® will be at the centre of each session. In these rituals, which involve a rhythmically stimulated ecstatic state of trance, we experience visions and receive answers to questions asked. In a broader sense, these experiences will evolve around the topics of healing – metamorphosis – soul journey – speaking truthfully. In addition, we can let ourselves be carried away by the sound of ritual instruments, such as the pre-Columbian “Peruvian whistling vessels”.

    Methods
“Ritual Body Postures and Ecstatic Trance”® by Prof. Felicitas Goodman, trance dance and drums, sound and trance, hypnosis, sufi meditation and shamanic dances, breathing, voice and body painting etc. We use creative means of expression (movement, painting, writing, playing instruments and using our own voice) and the sharing with the group to help shape, process, and integrate our impressions.

This annual group includes ten Saturdays from November 2017 to July 2018. Early registration is highly recommended.

      Time for Change

      Intensive Seminar: Time for Change
      Thursday, 16th – Sunday, 19th of April, 2020

An experience-oriented coaching process, helping you find a new path in your day-to-day life
Coaches: Sabine Rittner and Norbert A. Büth
      Location: Odenwald-Institut, Wald-Michelbach

You are currently looking for clarity and a new beginning in your private and professional life? You feel like it is finally time to listen to your inner voice and only do what is right for you? You want to awaken new hidden strengths and learn how to utilise these in your daily life?

      Content
Designed to help you discover your true needs and potential, this intensive seminar will guide you in finding vigour, joy, and fulfilment. We look at what has always kept you from reaching your dreams more consistently. Together we will create a powerful and positive new belief system for you. By creating inner images and new perspectives, we help you realise how your own vital energy can be used more sensibly. You will develop your future direction and plan the next steps.

      Methods
To (re-)discover your path, it is important to understand both the process of extensive experience as well as clarifying reflection. The success thus lies in the linked access to both conscious and unconscious inner spaces. The experience-oriented coaching process, which was developed by both seminar coaches, is therefore based on an internal vision which seeks to access the targeted use of all perceptual channels and levels (physical, mental, emotional, and psychological). We use structured, more cognitive coaching methods, as well as creative, hypnotherapeutic, and body oriented techniques, which stimulate altered states of consciousness, facilitate the deeper contact with inner knowledge and ultimately help strengthen the newly-discovered direction.

The concept of this seminar is based on group-coaching under dual leadership, which allows greater synergy between the different competencies of both coaches. Furthermore, the seminar allows for individual mentorship but also lets each participant receive support from the group itself, creating multifaceted inspiration and customised solutions.

→ Each participant receives extensive information and practice material to continue the exercises at home.

      The healing power of sounds

      Time-out seminar day I:
      The healing power of sounds

A melodious feel-good day in the beautiful Burghof Stauf with evening fire in the castle courtyard and free-dance offer to round off the evening.

      Sat., 9 May 2020, 11.00 – 18.30 hrs

Location: Burghof Stauf in der Pfalz
      Coach: Sabine Rittner

This seminar day introduces a cycle of three time-out seminar days within a year, which is dedicated to different approaches to healing forces and spaces within us. The seminar days can be booked individually or together.

In this seminar day we will rediscover our voice and explore its healing magic, as well as experience the effect of different trance-promoting sounds in depth, alternating between intensive sound-body-self-experience, silence and mutual exchange. There will also be a special “ritual posture” (according to Felicitas Goodman).

At an energetic power place on our castle hill with a wide view over the Palatinate Land we will experience the archaic sound of pre-Columbian “Peruvian Whistling Vessels”. These are ancient Peruvian ritual pipes, which – blown simultaneously over a longer period of time – have an extraordinary effect on our consciousness.

Thanks to the gift of their discoverer Daniel Statnekov, who made handmade replicas of these flutes for us, we have the unique opportunity to “travel” with the archaic Peruvian group sounds. A pleasurably relaxing sound bath in the flowing sounds of more than one hundred equally tuned strings of several monochord instruments rounds off the afternoon. After a delicious vegetarian dinner (on request) the evening can end with free dancing or in silence by the fire in the castle courtyard.

The seminar is suitable for participants who want to treat themselves during a relaxing time of well-being, who have an interest in self-awareness, who want to open up resources in themselves again. They can take along new strength, inspiration and impulses for healing change processes in their personal everyday life.

      The place:
A children’s home on a Celtic settlement square and castle hill in the Northern Palatinate, which had been vacant for a long time, was converted by committed people into both a communal housing project (www.gemeinschaft-burghofstauf.de) and a guest house retreat centre (www.gaestehaus-stauf.de) with seminar facilities. The inauguration took place on 9.9.2017. This time-out seminar will take place at this special location, surrounded by mountain landscape and forests.

“The Call of the Drums” – A Ritual Day with Trance Dance and Trance Drums

        Time-out seminar day II
“The Call of the Drums” – A Ritual Day with Trance Dance and Trance Drums
Seminar day to (re-)discover the power of visions in a ritual of several hours with trance dance carried by the large circle of shamanic drums.

        Sat., 10 October 2020 – 11.00 – approx. 19.30 hours
        Seminar Coach: Sabine Rittner
        Location: Heidelberg

“The state of trance is a possibility of experience created in man. Trance is the biological door to the other, sacred reality.
        Dr. Felicitas D. Goodman

On this seminar day you can immerse yourself for many hours in the wordless resonance space of the drumming pulsating community. In a ritualized, safe space, you will listen to the evenly pulsing sound of the drums and experience what they have to tell you, where they want to lead you. In the trance dance in the middle of the powerful circle of drums, you are free to dance, to follow your call, to inspire, to let yourself move. In this way you will allow your visions to show themselves, find them (again), follow them, explore them and embody them in the flesh by dancing.

In a shamanic ritual with a “ritual posture” according to Felicitas Goodman, accompanied by many drums, you can then go on a journey lying down.

Drum-trance-dance is probably the oldest ritual of mankind to get into changed states of consciousness. Research shows that ecstatic trance rituals offer our brain excellent creative possibilities to abandon old evaluation patterns and concepts, to “learn”, so to speak, in order to create space for visions and embodied new pathways (embodiment)¹. We will make use of this potential on this day.

        “Trance is a state of
        Mindfulness that only sets in,
if you stay out of your way and
fall down into your true self, so
        deep that something inside clicks
and you’ll be and witness being at the same time.”
        Gabriele Roth

The seminar is suitable for you, if you want to replenish joy, creativity, wildness and strength in the collective ecstasy of drumming and dancing. You can get surprising answers to a deep request you have made. Inspirations for completely different ways of healing can be shown to you. The seminar is aimed at you if you have an interest in self-awareness, if you want to open up resources within yourself again. So you can take new strength, inspiration and impulses for healing change processes into your personal everyday life.

        Methods:

        • Trance dance and trance drums under Community protection and
        • a “ritual posture” of shamanic origin accompanied by many drums according to Felicitas Goodman.

Very little will be spoken, instead we let our breath, our voice, our body, our movements “speak”. We use creative means of expression (sounding, painting, writing) and at the end also the exchange in small groups to give shape to our experiences, to process them and to integrate them.

Previous knowledge is not required. This day is suitable for beginners as well as for experienced participants. You can bring your own frame drum, but there are also enough drums for everyone.

          Journey into an Alternate Reality – Year-long Group 2020 – 2021

A self-experience year-long group: Journey into an Alternate Reality
          Next Start, 31.10.2020
          Saturdays, 10 dates always from 12 – 6pm

Trance rituals as a way of coping with everyday life
          Seminar Coach: Sabine Rittner
          Location: Heidelberg

This annual group includes ten Saturdays from October 2020 to July 2021. Early registration is highly recommended.

Diving into the silence – in the centre of the storm

Time-out seminar day III in Mannheim

“Dive into the silence – in the center of the storm.”
A retreat day with Sufi meditations, ecstatic whirl dance, Sufi poetry and silence.

Live music by the Sufi music group “Hosh Neva

            11.00 – 18.30 hours
            Management: Sabine Rittner
            places: Mannheim-Sandhofen

This is the third seminar from the cycle of time-out seminar days within a year, which is dedicated to different approaches to forces of change and healing spaces in us.

Research shows that ecstatic trance rituals offer our brain excellent creative possibilities to abandon old evaluation patterns and concepts, to “learn” them, so to speak, in order to create space for visions and embodied embodiments. This ecstatic potential slumbering in each of us has been used by the mystical path of Sufism for almost a thousand years to achieve unity, to merge with the source of creation. It lets itself be in its origins also from ancient shamanic traditions of the Bakse, the shamans of the nomadic Turkic tribes of the Orient.

Beyond all conceptions, beyond what is wrong and right, there is a place: let’s meet there!
            Dschalāl ad-Dīn Maulānā Rūmī (1207 – 1273)

            Blumen und Sonnenschein

On this retreat day we will learn the gentle, meditative and ecstatic trance techniques of Sufism with intensive breathing, singing, movement and dance, listen to Sufi poetry and stories and immerse ourselves again and again in silence. In the afternoon we will be accompanied for the sung mantra prayer (Dhikr) and the whirl dance (Mevlewi-Sema) by the rousing, ecstatic live music of the Sufi music group “Hosh Neva” from Mannheim.

The seminar is suitable for participants who want to treat themselves to a relaxing time of well-being, who have an interest in self-awareness, who want to open up resources within themselves again, who feel a deep longing for mystical reconnection (re-ligio) within themselves… They can take new strength, inspiration and impulses for healing change processes into their personal everyday life.
