On this seminar day you can immerse yourself for many hours in the wordless resonance space of the drumming pulsating community. In a ritualized, safe space you will listen to the steady pulsating sound of the drums and experience what they have to tell you, where they want to lead you. In the trance dance in the center of the powerful circle of many drums, you are free to dance to your call, to be inspired, to be moved. So you will allow your visions to show up, you will (re)find them, follow them, explore them and embody them dancing in the flesh. In a shamanic ritual with a “Ritual Posture” according to Felicitas Goodman accompanied by many drums and rattles, you can then go on a journey while lying down. Drum trance dance is probably the oldest empowering ritual known to mankind for collectively entering altered states of consciousness. Research shows that ecstatic trance rituals offer our brains excellent creative possibilities to leave old ingrained patterns of evaluation and concepts, to “un-learn”, so to speak, in order to create space for visions and embodied re-directions (embodiment)¹. We will make use of this potential on this powerful day.

The seminar is suitable for you if you want to fill up joy, creativity, wildness and power in the communal ecstasy of drumming and dancing. You can get surprising answers to your deepest concerns. Inspirations for completely different ways of healing can be shown to you. The seminar is for you if you are interested in self-experience, if you want to open up resources in yourself again. In this way you can take new strength, inspiration and impulses for healing processes of change into your personal everyday life.

Methods

Trance dance and trance drumming in the protection of the community and
a “Ritual Posture” of shamanic origin according to Felicitas Goodman, accompanied by many drums.

There will be very little speaking, instead we let our breath, our voice, our body, our movements “speak”. We will use creative expression (sounding, painting, writing) and at the very end also the exchange in small groups to give shape to our experiences, to process them and to integrate them. Previous experience is not necessary. This day is suitable for beginners as well as experienced participants. You can bring your own frame drum, but there are also enough drums for everyone.

is a music therapist, psychotherapist (HP), has been leading training, continuing education and self-awareness seminars for 40 years. She is imbued and delighted by her decades of experience on the Sufi path with the Sufi master and music therapist Dr. Oruc Güvenc since 1988. It is a great pleasure for me to continue this Sufi day in Burghof Stauf in his spirit.

This is the third seminar from the cycle of time-out seminar days within a year, which is dedicated to different accesses to transformational forces and healing spaces within us. Research shows that ecstatic trance rituals offer our brains excellent creative opportunities to leave old ingrained patterns of evaluation and concepts, to “un-learn”, so to speak, in order to create space for visions and embodied re-directions (embodiment)

This ecstatic potential dormant in each of us has been harnessed by the mystical path of Sufism for almost a thousand years to reach unity, to merge with the source of creation. Singing is the most original form of self-expression. Through the sound of our voice – whether singing or speaking – the entire facet richness of our personality resounds through. Our voice is sounding, “loud biography”.

This seminar is intended as an introduction for people who want to feel, hear, experience more about their own voice and who want to rediscover and learn to use this most natural source of nurturing and healing power within themselves. It is intended as a preventive, health-promoting measure for all those whose professional “main working tool” is the voice. It is also aimed at people who occasionally experience breathing and voice difficulties in stressful situations in their daily work and who would like to gain experience and practical advice on how to prevent permanent voice disorders in good time. We take time and space to rediscover our very own voice, sometimes buried under “dirt and stress”. Through the path of intensive self-experience we will get to know our life melody and open ourselves to the possibility of being given a very personal song of power from our innermost source in a nature ritual.

In the alternation of practical self-experience and theoretical integration, of quiet contemplation and playful design, of contemplation and joint reflection, of courage for demarcation and pleasure in surrender, of solitude and communal experience, closeness and distance, expression and impression … we will work on the expansion of our self-awareness and physical-voice expression. The connection between body, breath, voice, mood and health will be experienced directly.

On our journey of discovery we will be accompanied by: Voice and body work, free intuitive tones and voice improvisation, a bit of voice technique, relaxation and sound massages, rituals and intensive nature experience, body sound and resonance spaces, dance and trance, rhythm and power, songs and improvisations, chakra work and meditations, sensuality and body contact, colors and shapes as well as fascinating voices from many cultures of the world. And: silence.

This seminar day initiates a cycle of three time-out seminar days within a year
dedicated to different approaches to healing forces and spaces within us. The
seminar days can be taken individually or booked together.

Alternating between intensive sound-body self-experience, silence and sharing, we will rediscover our voice and explore its healing magic, as well as experience the effect of various trance-enhancing sounds in depth. There will also be a ritual with a sound-accompanied special “ritual posture” (according to Felicitas Goodman).

We will experiment with the archaic sound of pre-Columbian “Peruvian Whistling Vessels”. These are ancient Peruvian ritual whistles that, when blown several at a time over an extended period of time, have an extraordinary effect on our consciousness. Thanks to the gift of their discoverer Daniel Statnekov, who made handmade replicas of these flutes for us, we have the unique opportunity to “go on a journey” with the archaic group sound from Peru. A delightfully relaxing sound bath in the flowing sounds of more than a hundred equally tuned strings of several monochord instruments will round out the afternoon. After a delicious vegetarian dinner (on request), the evening can end with free dancing or in silence by the fire in the castle courtyard.

This year-long group offers experienced participants the opportunity to explore the healing mind-expanding potential of trance states in depth, in order to open up new spaces for themselves and to make the experiences and insights gained from them usable in a healing way in everyday life and work.

The point is to question, to review habitual, well-worn patterns of perception, because the creative potential of trance states lies primarily in stimulating our neuronal networks for “confusing and unlearning”. For this purpose, paths leading both into tranquility and into arousal (ecstasy) are offered. The center of each meeting is the ritual with one of the “ritual postures”® rediscovered by the anthropologist Prof. Felicitas Goodman. In this group, very few and particularly extensive rituals are offered on each date, so that a deepening exploration of one’s own worlds of perception and consciousness is possible while “traveling” in different dimensions of reality. It is about eliciting the melody of uniqueness from our body as the instrument of our soul.

Afterwards there is the possibility to end the seminar day in the evening chatting or in silence, dancing, having dinner together, taking a walk or sitting comfortably by the fire.

Methods
To (re-)discover your path, it is important to understand both the process of extensive experience as well as clarifying reflection. The success thus lies in the linked access to both conscious and unconscious inner spaces. The experience-oriented coaching process, which was developed by both seminar coaches, is therefore based on an internal vision which seeks to access the targeted use of all perceptual channels and levels (physical, mental, emotional, and psychological). We use structured, more cognitive coaching methods, as well as creative, hypnotherapeutic, and body oriented techniques, which stimulate altered states of consciousness, facilitate the deeper contact with inner knowledge and ultimately help strengthen the newly-discovered direction.

The concept of this seminar is based on group-coaching under dual leadership, which allows greater synergy between the different competencies of both coaches. Furthermore, the seminar allows for individual mentorship but also lets each participant receive support from the group itself, creating multifaceted inspiration and customised solutions.

The place:
A children’s home on a Celtic settlement square and castle hill in the Northern Palatinate, which had been vacant for a long time, was converted by committed people into both a communal housing project (www.gemeinschaft-burghofstauf.de) and a guest house retreat centre (www.gaestehaus-stauf.de) with seminar facilities. The inauguration took place on 9.9.2017. This time-out seminar will take place at this special location, surrounded by mountain landscape and forests.
